Do you want to retire early? Here are some quick steps you can take toward furthering your goal toward early retirement. First, you have got to save for it. Savings are probably the most important component. If you need to increase your savings consider paying off credit cards, eating out less and buying used whenever it makes sense. Buying items on EBay can save a great deal of money.

A friend of mine was unscrewing a chandelier bulb from an old fixture and the bulb shattered. She told me that she read about using an uncooked potato to remove a broken bulb that was still in the socket. I looked around and saw the trick on some other sites but since this is a “How To” site, I want to have it here. So…
First of all - How NOT to get electrocuted. Before you do anything TURN OFF THE ELECTRIC POWER!!!!! If you can’t figure out which circuit the fixture is on, turn off ALL the circuits. I know it is a big pain to reset all the clocks, but better to be spending time resetting clocks than be out of time altogether because you are dead. See my point?
If you had half an hour, and suddenly found out you needed to feed 15 guests, what would you do? Of course, you’d make spaghetti, but you’d want to make it taste good too, right? I got this from an old cookbook, and have used it for years. Everybody thinks I cooked for hours. Plus, you can use really simple things that are easy to store, just in case your kid brings home five friends, or your family all shows up in time for dinner!
Time are so tough and everyone seems so unhappy. The current economic crisis has caused hard times for everyone. How did our ancestors survive the depression and a couple of world wars? Well, I think it is all in your attitude. I have read many self help books on how to be a happier person. Throughout all the books there are a few common themes that have helped me really change my attitude and be happier even though my situation has not improved.
As soon as I say Yoga, you picture a beautiful, slim young woman in a tight fitting, leotard standing on her head with her legs in the full lotus position. If you don’t what the full lotus position is don’t worry, you probably wouldn’t like it any way. Yoga has fabulous benefits such as improved posture, more flexible muscles which makes you less prone to injury, reduced tension throughout your body and respitory benefits. Yet, the practice of Yoga always sounds time-consuming and looks painful.
There seems to be an endless stream of suggestions on how to stop a nosebleed but I came across one that I had not heard before and the explanation for why it works is completely logical. You stop the nosebleed by pressing keys or a cold butter knife to the back of the person’s neck. The explanation as to why this works is because of the mammalian dive reflex. Cold hits the nerves in the neck, causing the blood vessels to constrict. Your pulse will also slow a bit too.

I know the last post talked about saving money on dental care by finding a conservative dentist. But another way to save money is through preventive dental hygiene you do yourself. As you know my past dentist was using his dental tools to find problems and one of the things they always looked at was my gums. They gave the gum connected to each tooth a rating and if you have a lot of 4’s and 5’s which are bad (1 is the best) you would ofcourse need a additional dental procedure called a deep cleaning or something like that.
I read an interesting statistic in our local paper. The average American home has 25 devices from the consumer electronics world. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, electronics suck as much as 25 percent of their power when not in use. Computers are the worst using as much as 85% of their power for a PC that is always on. How is it electronic devices are using power when they are turned off? Well, it turns out they don’t actually turn off. Many of them go into a standby mode which causes them to continue to use power. It is wasted energy which is bad for the enviornment and wasted money which is bad for the pocketbook.
I have really bad teeth consequently I had a lot of fillings when I was younger and a few crowns. I have good dental hygiene so I have not had a lot of new cavities. I don’t have regular dental insurance since I am self employed but have something referred to as a “discount dental plan.” which is very affordable dental insurance. I selected a dentist from the dental health insurance plan and had been going to him for a few years. And for a few years, I was lucky and did not need any dental procedures.
